Effective August 17, 2026 · Last updated August 17, 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information SWIVEL LIVE LLC ("Swivel," "we," "us") collects through the Swivel website and related services (the "Platform"), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It's incorporated into and should be read alongside our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us
| Category | Examples | Who provides it |
|---|---|---|
| Account info | Full name, .edu email, password, university | All Users at signup |
| Contact info | Phone number (optional), email marketing opt-in | Users at signup |
| DJ profile | Bio, avatar photo, genres, pricing, availability, sample mixes (audio files) | DJs |
| Booking info | Event details, price, messages exchanged during booking | Bookers, Venues, DJs |
| Reviews | Star ratings and written reviews after a completed booking | Bookers, Venues, DJs |
| Payment setup | Bank/identity details required by Stripe to onboard as a payee | DJs (collected directly by Stripe, not by Swivel — see Section 3) |
| Support requests | Anything you send to swiveladmin@gmail.com | Any User |
1.2 Information collected automatically
- IP address — used briefly for rate-limiting (preventing signup/login abuse) via our infrastructure provider, then not retained beyond that purpose.
- Usage data — pages visited, actions taken (e.g., viewing a profile, applying to a gig), collected through normal server logs and our hosting provider (Vercel).
- Swivel does not currently use third-party advertising trackers or analytics/ad pixels.
1.3 Information we do not collect
Swivel never sees or stores your payment card number, bank account number, or Stripe Connect identity-verification documents — those go directly to Stripe. See Section 3.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Create and authenticate your account, and enforce the .edu and campus-siloing rules described in our Terms of Service;
- Show your DJ profile (if you're a DJ) to other Users on your campus, and let Users browse, book, and review each other;
- Process bookings and payments (via Stripe — see Section 3), including authorizing charges, capturing and transferring funds, and handling refunds;
- Send transactional emails — booking requests, booking status updates, venue follow notifications, and account/auth emails (password reset, signup confirmation);
- Send optional marketing/product emails, only if you checked the email opt-in box at signup — you can unsubscribe at any time;
- Detect and prevent abuse (e.g., rate-limiting repeated signup/login attempts by IP);
- Moderate the Platform (e.g., reviewing disputes, approving or revoking Venue accounts, responding to reports);
- Comply with legal obligations, including tax reporting Stripe performs on our behalf for DJ payouts.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third parties we share information with
Swivel doesn't build its own database, payments, or email infrastructure — we rely on the following processors, each of which only receives what it needs to do its job:
| Vendor | What it handles | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage (avatars, mix audio) | Effectively all account and platform data described in Section 1 |
| Stripe (incl. Stripe Connect) | Payments, DJ payouts, identity verification for payees | Payment method details, and — for DJs receiving payouts — identity/bank information required for Stripe's own KYC obligations |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery (booking notifications, auth emails) | Your email address and the content of the email being sent |
| Upstash (via Vercel) | Rate limiting | IP address, briefly |
| Vercel | Hosting and infrastructure | Standard request/server log data |
Other Users on the Platform can see whatever your profile makes public (for DJs: profile, mixes, reviews, ranking) and whatever you share with them directly in a booking conversation. We don't share your private contact information (email, phone) with other Users beyond what's needed to coordinate a confirmed booking.
We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety of Swivel or its Users.
4. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Section 6), we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except:
- Booking and payment records we're required to keep for tax, accounting, or legal purposes;
- Information already visible to and retained by another User (e.g., a review you wrote, or a message you sent as part of a completed booking);
- Anything we're legally required to retain longer.
5. Your choices & rights
- Access/correction: Most of your profile information can be viewed and edited directly from your dashboard.
- Marketing emails: Opt out any time via the unsubscribe link, or by emailing swiveladmin@gmail.com.
- Account deletion: Email swiveladmin@gmail.com to request deletion, subject to the retention exceptions in Section 4.
- Do Not Track: The Platform does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, since we don't run third-party ad tracking to begin with.
If you're in a jurisdiction that grants additional statutory rights (e.g., access, deletion, or portability rights under a state privacy law), contact us at swiveladmin@gmail.com and we'll honor applicable requests.
6. Children's privacy
Swivel is not directed at, and does not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18. Our Terms of Service require all Users to be at least 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll delete it.
7. Security
We rely on industry-standard protections from our infrastructure providers — encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) site-wide, row-level database access controls, and hashed (not plaintext) password storage via Supabase Auth. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored on the Platform.
8. Cookies
Swivel uses cookies necessary for authentication (keeping you logged in) and basic site functionality. We do not currently use non-essential cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you (e.g., by email or an in-app notice) before the change takes effect, the same way described for our Terms of Service.
